Hello,
I just bought a Mac Air for my son (a student) for the school year.
The Mac works perfectly fine on Wi-Fi, but in the student dormitory, there is only Ethernet available.
He bought a compatible USB 2.0 / RJ45 adapter for Mac.
The computer recognizes the network:
USB 10/100 LAN
Connected
IPv4 configuration: VIA DHCP
IP ADDRESS: ......
SUBNET: ....
ROUTER: ......
Despite this, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to connect to the Internet.
I read that this could be due to a driver issue with the adapter, but I don't know what it is???
Does anyone have an explanation, please?

Hi,
Usually these adapters do not require specific drivers, as they are already natively integrated into current OS (and it’s the same one that Android uses in USB modem mode, I believe).
Is internet accessible from this same RJ45 cable on another PC?
I don't know much about MacOS.
Other than that, Apple does everything to isolate itself in its ecosystem with its proprietary jacks, protocols, and services...

indeed, I didn't have to install a driver for the adapter, the problem was with the computer, it was just a network configuration issue...
Thank you for your response,
best regards...
