HDMI adapter not working - Mac shuts down

Hello,

I am new and I am desperately trying to find a solution for my MacBook Pro purchased in 2011, which refuses the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.

Let me explain, I bought a MINI DISPLAYPORT/HDMI adapter at Fnac about 6 months ago to be able to display my Mac's image on the TV.
Everything was working very well until last week when I no longer had an image as if the adapter was not plugged in.
I thought the cable had burned out, so they gave me a new one at Fnac.

However, now every time I plug this adapter into my Mac, the Mac suddenly shuts down without warning, without any message…

I can turn it back on without any problem, but I even tried plugging in the adapter alone (not connected to the HDMI cable), and just inserting it into the Mac causes everything to shut down!
I tried restarting it with the cable connected, but in "display," I cannot find another screen, my Mac does not detect it…

In your opinion, is it a cable issue or a Mac issue?

I should point out that this is not an Apple adapter but from the brand SINOX.

Thank you in advance for reading and for your responses.

Betty

Hello, can you give me the serial number of your machine? It is under your device.
I don't think the issue is with the adapter but rather with the switch between the two graphics cards to confirm with the serial number.

When you don't plug in the adapter and launch a heavy video, does the machine shut down or not?

Hello

The serial number is *********.
When I launch an online video, there’s no problem, and I just launched a movie from my external hard drive with VLC, no issue either.

Before, that infamous adapter worked…. Then it stopped. Since I got a new one, even when I plug it into the mini display port without connecting the HDMI cable: Bam, it shuts down the Mac!

So you have a
MBP 13.3/2.3/2X2GB/320/SD
MACBOOK PRO 13-INCH
2.3GHZ DUAL-CORE INTEL CORE I5
4GB 1333MHZ DDR3 SDRAM - 2X2GB

so it rules out the GPU issue.

Either the DISPLAYPORT of your machine is faulty
or the new adapter is really bad :/

Do you have anything else on DISPLAYPORT, a hard drive or something?

Your serial number was blurred on my request, is that normal?

I saw what I wanted to see and I copied the information we could have.

Sorry for my spelling :/
