Hello,

I am working on Word 365.

I am using a list of titles of different levels.

At the same time, I would like to number figures and appendices.
The figures are throughout the thesis, and the appendices are at the end.

I need to insert a "list of figures" page at the beginning of the thesis and a "list of appendices" page at the end of the thesis.
Is there a way to automate this without messing up my table of contents and my list of headings (the titles)?

Thank you.

Hello,

For your figures, you need to insert a caption for each of them (References tab, Captions => Insert Caption).
Then, you will simply need to insert a table of illustrations (still under the References tab, Captions group). There will be no confusion with your table of contents.

As for the appendices, just choose to create an Appendix style with an unused hierarchical level (for example, level 6), and then create a table of contents by selecting only the style levels of these appendices. For example, if the hierarchical level is 6, you will insert a table of contents as usual, display the code (Shift+F9) and instead of \o "1-3" you will put \o "6-6". And you will update the field (F9).
