Hello,

I’ll explain my problem: I am trying to connect my printer via Wi-Fi to print directly from my computer without using a USB drive.

Here is the equipment I have:
- A 4G dongle that is my internet connection source: Mobile Wi-Fi HUAWEI
- A printer: HP PageWide Enterprise Color MFP 780 Series
- A Wi-Fi box that was provided with the printer: HP Jetdirect 2900nw Print Server

I’m not sure how to connect the JetDirect box since it needs to be powered by an RJ45 cable, but my 4G dongle only provides Wi-Fi and doesn’t have an RJ45 input. Do I need to buy additional equipment? Or how can I connect these devices to work properly?

Thank you very much for your help :)

Hello,

I'm afraid that the configuration of your equipment does not allow for the connections you would like to have. From what I've just read and seen on the internet, the device is actually not Wi-Fi but only Ethernet. This means it allows you to network a printer that is fundamentally incompatible with this technique. The device is connected to a standard box via Ethernet and then that same device is connected to the printer via USB. It's as if the printer were Wi-Fi, except that it is ultimately connected by a cable...

Without having a box, I'm not sure how to guide you except to suggest buying a router, but that becomes more technical and I'm not very comfortable with that. Given the price of these devices, it might be easier to just buy a printer that offers Wi-Fi...

Best regards,
