Non-gray non-breaking spaces

Hello,

In LibreOffice Writer, I use grey coloring for non-breaking spaces. They automatically insert after punctuation, etc.

So far, this has worked that way.
Today, they still insert automatically, but I notice they are no longer grey. When I enter them with Ctrl+Shift+space, they don’t become grey either.

I checked in Tools>Options>LibreOffice Writer>Formatting Aids: the display of non-breaking spaces is indeed checked.

What could I have changed so that these non-breaking spaces are no longer grey?

Thank you for your help.

Edit: I specify that those at the beginning of the document remain grey. It is only the new ones that are not.
Edit 2: I tested by opening another older document. The inserted non-breaking spaces turn grey. I confess I don’t understand much.

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 67.0 / LibreOffice Version: 6.1.6.3

The phrase "So far it worked" suggests doing a purge of the profile.

Thank you for your help OOoForum

I changed the name of the folder, reopened the file, so with a brand new profile. That does not resolve the issue.

Moreover, I notice that the phenomenon only occurs in the middle of the document while following a correction I was making. If I type text at the end of the document behind text that was written a few days ago, everything works fine, the non-breaking spaces turn grey.

Could it be possible that I accidentally changed the grey color to white?

Ah, I got it! I found it: I'm a fool!

Rereading myself, I found the right questions:
- What could I have touched for these non-breaking spaces to no longer be grayed out?
- Is there a chance that I accidentally changed the gray color to white?

I had highlighted a sentence, then I wanted to remove the highlighting (highlight color), but instead of selecting "no fill," I chose white. I know it's really dumb!

Still, that means that if we highlight, we can no longer emphasize non-breaking spaces. The two are apparently incompatible.
