Hello,

Can you please tell me a website where I can download the update for my Nuvi 255 for free?
I searched in the forum and couldn't find anything relevant or sufficiently recent. Thank you in advance.

Hello, thank you but it's a paid site. Cheaper than the official one, though. I'll keep the address just in case I can't find anything better.

If your GPS was sold with a "lifetime update," you just need to create an account with Garmin and use Garmin Express as specified by .
Here we are talking about map updates; no free subscription includes radar updates.

If your GPS was not sold with a lifetime update, you will need to purchase the maps on the Garmin website.
Some non-Garmin sites offer free open-source maps, but in my experience, it can be very "patchy" in terms of options, tracking, and ease of updates. That said, it’s a personal choice.

It should be noted that free map updates from Garmin for older models are not transferable to a third party (resale). For newer models, it seems to be possible.

As "madmyke" said, either the GPS is sold with free map updates for the lifespan of the GPS, and in that case, you have to use Garmin Express, or the Garmin is sold with paid updates, in which case you will have to pay.

Certainly, but the seller told me, "no need to buy the upgrade, there are plenty of pirated copies on the network." So I can understand that you're trying to sell me this upgrade, but I'm going to try to find a cheaper option elsewhere...
