Hello,
I want to add new friends on Facebook without them being added to Messenger, is that possible?
I’m not very social; I don’t feel like chatting with them ;)
Seriously, I’m open to any solutions, thank you so much!
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 74.0.3729.131

Hello
Facebook is linked to Messenger so no, that's not possible.
However, it is possible to not be disturbed, either by temporarily putting it on "Mute" (maximum 30 days, renewable), or by disabling the conversation for individual users; this doesn't prevent them from messaging you but the conversation won't be visible and will be classified as if it were a "request", but they won't know it..
In any case, your FB friends will have access to Messenger.
The simplest solution is also to not respond, or even delete it; they won't know either.
Lastly, it's not forbidden to "reply" that you do not wish to use Messenger, period.
It's an app, not a life obligation.
Best regards
