Hello,
I've been searching the internet, but I can't prevent my Word table (Office 365 ProPlus) from splitting across multiple pages as soon as I add a [Styles => Title] to a line. All the advice points to [Table Tools => Properties => Row tab => Allow row to break across pages] (checked).
Yet, this option is indeed checked, and when I format it with a Title, poof! it sends the line to a new page.
Does anyone know how to prevent this?
Thanks in advance, Robert

Good evening,
It's difficult to say more without seeing the document and the table...
There’s still something that seems illogical to me: you say you checked the option "Allow line splitting across multiple pages"... if that's checked, it has the opposite effect of what you’re looking for...

There's no need to ask me your questions in private. I won't answer them.

This parameter confuses me too. But here is how I understand it: when the option is checked, if the row of your table extends onto the next page, the table remains joined and the row continues onto the next page, without breaking the continuity of the table. It works exactly as intended until I use a heading style in the row. I think you could easily reproduce the issue without me publishing the document, but I would be happy to create a dummy one if that helps. I think Bouda08 provides a good possible explanation, even though I don't see anything in the heading style that accounts for this behavior.
Thank you!
Robert
When this option is checked, it clearly means that a table cell can be split if the table reaches the bottom of the page. We are indeed talking about a cell, not a row within a cell.
If you do not want a cell to be split, you should not check this option. If the table is too large to fit on the page, the split will occur, but between the cells.
Some things can prevent this: for example, if there are vertically merged cells. Even if the option is not checked, there is a risk that such a cell will be split.
Your issue with the style may indeed stem from the style itself. If this style includes a page break before, the table will be automatically split and moved to the next page. And in the properties you provided for this style, you omitted this detail, which is the most important...
But, at the risk of repeating myself, the option "Allow row splitting across pages" means that one accepts a cell to be split at the bottom of the page when the content of the cell is too long to stay on the same page.
I am willing to see the example, even if it’s lame!

Thank you for all these details! I tried to replicate the same documents that were causing issues and to perform the action that was causing this behavior, either in a split table across two pages by changing the Title in cell 1 of the row to normal style, or in a table where I resigned myself not to use the style to prevent splitting and applied a style to it... And just to make matters worse, the reported behavior does not reproduce!?! I would be curious to check in a new document if this occurs again, as I have "worked hard" on this problem several times, until I pinpointed that it is the addition of the Title style that causes the issue. To the point where I can reproduce the Title style without using the function and it does not cause the table to split. All of this is quite strange. I have to work today on this same type of document and I will get back to confirm whether the problem persists, if necessary. For now, however, I am unable to create a dummy document for you, as my base templates no longer seem to behave in a way that causes issues.
Thank you and looking forward to your reply,
RG
