I can't save a spreadsheet in OpenOffice, claiming that I do not have sufficient rights. Believing it to be a bug, I uninstalled the version I had and reinstalled the latest one: the problem persists. The error message says: "Error saving [file name]. Cannot access the object due to insufficient rights" Can someone help me? Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Right-click on the OpenOffice icon and go to Properties.
Go to the "Compatibility" tab and check "Run this program as an administrator."

It might work...

Another idea:

In the directory where you save your documents, check for the presence of a hidden file of the type .~lock.xxxx.
If this file exists, delete it.

To show hidden files, go to View and check "Hidden items"

A software must be installed with administrator rights in order to have permission to write to the computer. Given the error message, that does not seem to be the case.

Search online for the installation tutorial for OpenOffice suitable for your operating system.

I ask myself fewer questions when I install software on my computer. And it works! It might be implicit that I have administrator rights since I am the administrator.

Why does the inability to save persist if OpenOffice is run with administrator rights? (see message ◄ 1 ►)

Read the tutorials. This is not how you install OpenOffice. And when there is a malfunction, the first reflex is to purge the profile.

It is not enough to uninstall LibreOffice, you need to delete the folder in your user profile, show protected system folders and files, and then go to > C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice

Hello,
I found 3 "lock" files that were not hidden, but no hidden ones.
I deleted the 3 that had an Excel extension, but still no result.
I'm losing hope..
