TV and Hard Drive Issues

Hello everyone,

I have a small problem with a hard drive I recently bought;
I transferred a set of videos to the external hard drive (Seagate 4TB Backup Plus model); There are no issues on the Windows/Mac computer or when I connect it to a DVD player.
However, when I plug it into my Smart TV (LG 65EG960V model), some of my videos disappear immediately and when I check back on the computer, the files are missing too.

I managed to recover my videos, but on the second attempt with the Smart TV, the files disappear again (still in the same folder).
I don't think the TV is deleting the files because when I use recovery software, it tells me that the files are in "found000" (a folder I can't see on the computer).

How can I connect my hard drive without it causing my videos to disappear?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,

You mention that some of the videos are deleted:
- What is the size of the disappearing videos?
- What is the format of these videos?

It might be a clue that could help understand...

Hello,

Thank you for your response.
The videos are in .avi format and they’re about 400 GB.

I tried a 2TB hard drive and the problem is still the same.
Maybe I should have mentioned that a file named "ntfsck.00000000" appears.

Do you have any idea?

Hello,
It’s likely that your hard drive has an issue, so it needs to be returned for service (check the warranty) ...
It would be good to check it;

Hello,

Actually, it's the second hard drive that's doing this on the TV;
So either the problem is the TV or I've just really been unlucky with the two hard drives ><

Has Windows never asked you to perform a disk check for detected errors when you connect it?

No, and by the way, I have no problem with my Windows or my Mac. It's only when I connect it to the TV that the files disappear and this folder appears.

How do you disconnect the hard drive from the TV?

In fact, I never even have the time to disconnect it; the TV deletes my files as soon as the hard drive is connected to it.

Personally, I lean towards a problem with the TV, but it would be good to check the hard drive, see my previous response...

You should connect the hard drive to another television (a brand other than LG) to see if this error occurs as well to be sure afterwards you will know what is at fault...
