This Nvidia graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows

Question

Hello, I recently received my gaming PC without an OS, so I installed Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Then I tried to install the drivers for my graphics card (1060) but I keep getting an error message saying "this graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows" even though I selected Windows 10 64-bit. I check in Device Manager under "Display adapters" and it shows "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" instead of my 1060! I saw on several forums that I should update with Windows Update; I currently have 3 updates, but they all fail in the end. even though they are Windows and Nvidia updates with some driver stuff.. If someone could help, that would be great, I’m really fed up. Thanks.

Hello,  Windows + R Type -> devmgmt.msc and OK.  Provide the hardware ID of the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter Look at this -> Find the hardware ID of a device Post the number in your next message. Download and install --> 7Zip 64-bit  Try this driver -->  NVIDIA  Right-click on --> 417.35-desktop-....exe Select --> 7Zip Choose --> extract to "417.35-desktop-....\"  Go to Device Manager Right-click on the device Update driver Browse my computer ...... Browse Go to the folder of the unzipped driver --> 417.35-desktop-.... Select the folder --> Display.Driver OK, Next Restart.   -- The human being is at its best when things are at their worst
