76% loss of speed with powerline adapters, under good conditions

Hello,

Here is my problem: I have a Voo Wahoo subscription at 125 Mbps. The box is in my living room, on the same floor and quite close to the room where my computer is. The network goes between them via a powerline adapter at 500 Mbps (Netgear Powerline AV500) through the electrical network, which is new (the apartment is 2 years old).

It should be noted that between the box and the "incoming" powerline adapter, and between the "outgoing" powerline adapter and my PC, the connection goes through RJ45 cables of "cat.5e" type. The installation seems reasonable to me and yet, my PC only receives a maximum of 30 Mbps, which represents a loss of 76% in speed...

My question is the following: In your opinion, is it really, as I think, the powerline adapter that is limiting the speed, or should I not expect more from my installation? And if it is indeed the powerline adapter, what would you recommend as a potentially sufficient powerline adapter?

    Hi,

    It's probably the PLC. But not related to the PLC modules, but really to the technology.

    It gets disrupted very quickly and for no reason.

    That's why we always recommend using a cable between the two devices...

    You can first test by connecting your computer directly to your box to ensure that the speed corresponds to what comes out of the box compared to what you are supposed to have.

    But PLC combined with coaxial (cable) is a bit of a fatal combination for unexpected speed losses... :-(

      I understand, yes, there’s probably nothing to be done, I suppose.

      But still, wouldn't a powerline adapter with 1000 mbps (per port) improve the situation? What difference could it make?

      Good evening.
      30 mbps seems a bit low to me as well.
      Under the same conditions, I've been using powerline adapters for a few years and the result is somewhat better.
