For some time now, it has become tedious to insert a shape in Word (it's also a hassle with Excel) - the drop-down menu takes a long time to appear and it is long, sometimes impossible, to select a shape.

    I don't think I can help you, but you should specify your version of Office.
    Still, check your available space on the system drive (C:\)
