The intensity of a AA battery, 1.5V

Hello*

I tested the current of 1.5V batteries with my multimeter on the 10A setting, with the red wire connected to max 10A and the black wire on COM... After doing some research (which I probably should have done before), connecting my multimeter directly to the battery should have displayed -1... This was not the case, the values varied from 0.7 to 9.6 depending on the battery... Why? Thank you for answering my question.

P.S. I now understand that you cannot measure the current directly from a battery... insults will not be necessary. Thank you.

Hi,

You risk damaging your multimeter or blowing its fuse by testing like that.

Fortunately, you haven't tested a battery giving more than 10000mAh, since your tester goes up to 10A.

You have batteries giving 700mAh and some at 9600mAh, according to your results.

P.S.: And you can damage the batteries or a circuit by testing the amperage; it's like short-circuiting, it's not like a voltage test.

Yes indeed, I understood that I got a bit lucky.... But since the batteries I tested are mostly identical, 2 out of 6 come from a different manufacturer, I was wondering why the results are so varied? Does the charge affect the intensity of a battery in mid-life? If so, some more finicky devices would only work with new batteries... Which, in my opinion, doesn't make any sense...
I may be totally wrong! I'm trying to deepen my knowledge and I thank you for helping me with my questioning.

Some rechargeable batteries don't even provide 600mAh, so yes, they are not suitable for flashlights that require a lot of power or shine much less, but they still work.

Those that tested very high are in shape, even very much in shape.
