Hello, following the purchase of a new Windows 10 PC, I installed AVG, and during a Windows update, my screen went black. I read all the posts related to black screens, I've tried everything, nothing works, except for the task manager. I'm wondering if during the update AVG took the opportunity to install a virus, as sometimes an AVG window pops up!
Since I only have access to the task manager, can I do something from there?
I can't access safe mode or anything else!
I just want to at least save the computer even if I have to reinstall Windows, but without a visible screen, how can I do that?
Thank you for your responses.
It's a small Asus 2-in-1 with a detachable touchscreen.

    Hello,

Even with this method for safe mode?

Boot into the advanced recovery options by using method 1 on this page: Windows Advanced Recovery Options.
The principle is to restart on the page where you're asked for the password, with the icon at the bottom right while holding the shift key.

If you're NOT getting to the window where Windows asks for passwords, because of a freeze or crash before...
Turn off the computer twice during the Windows loading.
It will enter repair mode which will also provide access to the advanced recovery options.
(If booting into the advanced recovery options is impossible, you need to create a USB drive to boot from, there's a link on the previous page for that).

From Troubleshoot you can then try:
    • From the settings menu, restart Windows and go into safe mode, from there you can uninstall a problematic application like your antivirus

I think it's working, I'm waiting... and I'll let you know! Wow, that would be great! It's resetting now.
