Hello,
I have been using Word 2000 for word processing for a long time. While working on a file, the system has repeatedly frozen, which I can resolve by turning off the computer and restarting it with the power button, but I lose my work in the process.
While writing this note, Word froze and became unresponsive, without affecting the system. The problem occurs when my typing accidentally activates a key adjacent to the one I intended to use.
Additionally, quite often when I use the enter key to go to the next line, a window pops up asking me to insert the installation disk to add a feature.
Word 2000 is valuable to me because special characters can be used through shortcuts (which are simpler than alt + 4 digits) that I can create myself.
What could be the way to avoid these bugs? Aside from, of course, changing software.
Thank you.

Hello,
I don't have W10, but do you have Properties on a right-click on the Word shortcut?
If yes, in the compatibility tab, you can choose an older OS (Win 7, XP, etc.)
To test...
And if you decide to change software, you have WinCompose which is a nice little free utility for keyboard shortcuts for special characters.

By continuously trying, we eventually succeed.
So the more it fails, the more chances we have that it works. (the Shadoks)
In addition to the thank you (yes, it can happen!!!), be sure to mark it as resolved. Thank you.-
Hello,
thank you, yes, for taking the time to answer my question, but for now, I'm still in the dark. I did find winword.exe along the path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office, I also found "compatibility" with the prompt to "run this program in compatibility mode" for Windows 7, 8, and Vista, but I'm hesitant to proceed with these settings because I don't know what the favorable or unfavorable consequences might be.
Additionally, in the free solutions, there is indeed lexibar where we can find special characters. As for WinCompose, I will install it and see the result.
