Hello,
Can we hope to run Word 2000 on Windows 10?
Error 1904 appears during installation and cannot load modules eight times.
Once installed (at least I think so), Word 2000 opens, but as soon as I type a few words or try to open a doc file, it disappears from the screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To do this, you need to right-click on the file that installs Word 2000, then click on Properties, then click on the Compatibility tab, then check the box Run this program in compatibility mode for, and select Windows 2000 from the drop-down list, then save the properties, and finally launch the installation program.

  That seems correct to me. You need to go to the "compatibility" tab. But instead of selecting Windows 2000, you can select Windows XP SP3. It works very well (avoids random crashes when no compatibility option is selected)

I just followed your instructions to the letter to install Word 2000 on Windows 10 (version 1903), but it has no effect.
I still have:
1 - Word 2000 opens when I click on the shortcut.
2 - When I click on "Open" in the toolbar and choose a doc file, it does not open in Word 2000 and the software window disappears.

  It is neither anachronistic nor unnecessary to stick with Word 2000.
  
  First, the interface is much more logical than that of later versions (the list of available actions is at the top of the screen, rather than being "guessed" by right-clicking, which is not mentioned anywhere as opening the list of available actions). Moreover, for occasional "math geeks" (math teachers) who do not wish to delve into "complex systems" like Matlab, the equation editor Microsoft Equation 3.0 is entirely satisfactory, with numerous keyboard shortcuts making typing pleasant and fast; you just have to go into regedit and enter the value 1 instead of 0 in the "forceopen" key.
  
  The installation of Microsoft Office 2000 or 2003 normally works under Windows 10. After installation, search for the Winword.exe file or one of its shortcuts, right-click and select "Troubleshoot compatibility," then select "Windows XP sp3" and save the changes. Without this last step, Word 2000 launches correctly but may randomly crash in the middle of work, which is at least unpleasant.

    Yes, well...: Microsoft has removed the old version of the equation editor for security reasons, but it remains available as long as no updates are made after 2018, including in the more recent versions up to 2016 (but which are connected online unless forced otherwise, back to square one).
    
    And for example, while Word 2019 allows for writing equations via a MathML plugin or on the fly via LaTeX or Unicode, it also has a graphical interface that enables simple entry of most common formulas and symbols and relies on MathType.
    
    I believe there are also plugins available that allow for integrating LaTeX into Word in graphical mode, but I haven't looked into LaTeX for a long time.
    
    Regarding the security question, if the workstation in question is not connected to the Internet, why not, but then the issue of document exchanges by this means will arise if they are somewhat sophisticated since Word 2000 does not recognize docx even though, fortunately, Word 2000 is not old enough to rely on WordBasic, so the problem will only arise for macros and features like Fields and/or VBA introduced since then.
