Hello,
I have a legal and original version of PowerPoint 2016 (Office Professional 2016 suite).
In my presentation, I would like to zoom in on certain images during the slideshow. So I go to the "Insert" tab, but there is no zoom option available!
However, if I go to File/Options/Customize Ribbon, in the "Insert" tab, under the "Links" submenu, the zoom options do appear.
I tried to work around the issue by going to File/Options/Quick Access Toolbar, and then I added the zoom function to the toolbar. I click on this toolbar, but the zoom option remains grayed out whether I select an image or not in my document.
In the integrated help section of PowerPoint, the procedure for accessing the zoom function is well described nonetheless. I could try resetting the display preferences, but that’s tedious, as I have customized quite a bit, and above all, I’m not sure that the issue comes from there, but anyway...
Help! This function is essential for me to lighten my presentation, thank you!
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 60.0

Hello,
There is zoom and there is zoom! Microsoft made the unfortunate decision to give the same name to different features.
The zoom you're talking about is indeed only available for the 365 versions (subscription-based): this is part of the various improvements made over time for the 365 version. These improvements will then be available for the 2019 version.
So you have a 2016 version whose features are not restricted at all... you simply do not have the same features as a 365 subscriber. That's how it is, and it's a question of license.
Now what you need is not that zoom. If I understood your request correctly, you just want to zoom in on an image during a slideshow, and everyone can do that since version 2013, and there is no need to insert anything:
- If you are using Presenter mode, you have a magnifying glass: you click on it and then click on the part of the image to zoom in.
- If you are not using Presenter mode, the magnifying glass is located at the bottom of the slide, grayed out.
