Hello,

I have a Galaxy S9, and by default, all the WhatsApp photos I received were saved in my photo gallery, even those I didn't open on WhatsApp.

I went into the WhatsApp settings, and now they don't save anymore if I don't open them in WhatsApp.

However, the photos I view on WhatsApp continue to be saved: how can I prevent this?

I didn't have this problem on my iPhone...

I wanted to download ES File Explorer to try to solve the problem (I don't know anything about it), but when I follow the tutorials, it doesn't work...

The adjustment is made in the WSP settings.

In the settings, I can set it so that the photos I do not upload to the app do not automatically save on the phone, however the photos I open in the app continue to save in the photo gallery, and apparently there is no way to adjust this setting in the parameters.

  At my place, recently, two folders (albums) called WSP (1 photo and 1 video) have been created in my gallery, and it is in these two folders that the photos or videos I open are saved.
  
  I extract from these folders the photos or videos I want to keep (by moving them to another album I created) and then I delete the photos deemed uninteresting.

  Ultimately, WSP is offering us a fool's bargain because if we refuse to save it, we can't see the received photo, and if we open it, we save it.

  Hello, in the WhatsApp options under data and storage usage, there is the choice to select no media for each connection mode.

  Yes, but the photo is blurry in WSP... to see it, you have to download it manually and it ends up being saved in the gallery.

  For me, normality or logic would be that you could see all the photos in WSP and only save those that seem worthy of interest... the principle of postal mail.
  
  With WSP, the selection is not made based on the photo but based on who sends it to you (it's X who always sends me useless photos, so I don't open them to avoid having them saved, and then I would have to delete them).
