Usage of AUX input and tape monitor input

Hello,
The AUX input of my amplifier is occupied by a CD player. Can I use the tape monitor in to connect a Chromecast (I have the right cable with one RCA side)?
In fact, do an AUX input and a tape monitor in have the same characteristics?
