Hello,

Following a paper jam (which may not be related), my printer displays: "Ink cartridge problem: the following cartridges need to be changed" and there is a small magenta square below the message.

These are compatible cartridges that are three-quarters full; I have printed photos and at least 50 black and white pages without any issues.

The printer is stuck, and I no longer have access to the menu.

I have turned the printer off and on again, I have cleaned the heads and the contacts with no success.

Thank you for your help.

Good evening,

It happens sometimes with certain compatible cartridges.

The chip may be faulty. You need to either purchase a new chip or change the cartridge, and the problem should be resolved.

Otherwise, try first to clean the chip reader located under the cartridge.

Let me know if the problem is fixed.
Best regards

Thank you for your quick response. I cleaned the pins that are in contact with the chip but to no avail. The cartridge supplier is sending me one (That’s nice) to replace it; I hope this will solve the problem.
Best regards

Thank you for your help, 123consommables sent me a cartridge and that unblocked my printer. It is still not normal that a defect in a color cartridge causes the printer to freeze and that we cannot use the black ink alone. But that's HP.

How do we indicate that the problem is solved on the forum?
Have a good weekend.
