Hello everyone
I have a problem with TeamViewer. I'm trying to help someone remotely who is on Windows 10, and TeamViewer is already installed on their PC.
They give me their ID
I try to connect to it
but each time I get this message
TeamViewer is not running on your partner's computer

Hello.
If I may make a suggestion, change the program. Download AnyDesk for both of you.
It doesn't require any installation. When your correspondent launches it, the program displays a code. They just need to send you that code, you type it in, and the connection is established.

Your partner's ID is not enough, you also need the Password!
If TeamViewer is not running on their PC, it is obviously impossible to establish a connection!

Oh no, for remote support for many years, unless of course he confirms by phone, there are unsuspecting users who just write down the ID and think that’s enough.
You need to be sure that the application is started.

If this point is verified AND the connection is good (also to be verified), then it needs to be reinstalled.

Another thing to watch out for is that if your partner disconnects (assuming the connection is established) and then reconnects, the password is changed.
If you have the password from the first connection while, in reality, it's the third attempt, the password from the first connection will not work!

Hello

Teamviewer can be set to start automatically or not on the machine.

If it's not the case, the person needs to manually start it on their PC first.
Another possibility is that TV is running but there is no connection.

They will need to provide the ID AND the associated password, either the one generated by TV or the one defined during installation (asset management)

Okay, if we have TV in the taskbar and it's confirmed (I'm wary but that's the practice of the profession), it is started.
But if the installation wasn't done with prior management, the ID does not change but the password does.
Therefore, the person must click on the icon, and in the window, confirm at the same time the ID and the password (and not one noted in advance).

Then, to check that the connection is okay, you need to ask it, for example, to go to Google and type in any search that has never been done before (otherwise, you'll end up with the browser's cache) and see if Google provides any links.
