Hello everyone,
I am using Windows 10, and I am part of an association where I will connect to the network with my laptop.
A few days ago, I reinstalled Windows, and since then I no longer see the homegroup of the association to connect to their network, yet I can see other computers on the network.
What should I do?
Thank you very much for your help.
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 58.0

Hello
To join a homegroup, follow these steps on the PC you want to add to the homegroup:
Open the Homegroup window by typing homegroup in the search box on the taskbar, and then selecting Homegroup.
- Select Join > Next.
- Select the libraries and devices to share with the homegroup, then Next.
- Enter the homegroup password in the provided field, then select Next.
Note
(If no space appears to enter a password, there may be no homegroup available. Make sure a user has created a homegroup or create one yourself.)
Select Finish.

So, by typing "Residential group" in the search bar of the taskbar, I do NOT see any group, while others can connect perfectly.
I was doing very well, but since the reinstallation of Windows, it no longer works.
Could Windows Defender be the cause?
Or maybe some settings?
Thank you.- Good question,
Defender might be the issue, just disable it to check. But I don’t think so.
This problem seems to be known by Microsoft without a real solution.
What stands out is that if the homegroup is created from a PC, for example with Windows 7, and the others wanting to access it are on W8, 10, etc., which means a different version, it doesn't work automatically. The same goes if it's the other way around (group created under W8, etc., and accessed through another OS version).
Here's what we find online.
The solution I use is to use "workgroups." At least that can be set up on each PC regardless of the version of Windows.

Hello,
so I tried all these possibilities, disabling Defender, etc. I read all these topics, nothing worked.
So I used a more radical approach: formatting the hard drive and reinstalling from scratch, and now with the "Windows 10 Home" version, it works on the first try! :) (before I had the Pro version.
But recently there was a major Windows update, and after rebooting and new settings, a message from Microsoft appeared saying that the "homegroup" no longer exists!
and everything is now working perfectly fine.
