Rusty parabola

I just bought a house. The satellite dish is rusty
Does this affect reception?

    Yes and no,

    Obviously, if the satellite dish has too many rough spots or scales, it will weaken the signal or absorb some of the waves instead of concentrating them, but not to the point of receiving nothing.

    Even if oxidized, it reflects the waves back to the LNB head and that’s the main thing. It is essential that the LNB functions properly, that the cable is intact, and that the sleeve protecting the cable connection on the LNB is waterproof.
    If you’re not receiving anything, you should first check all that and possibly the alignment before replacing the satellite dish.

      Thank you, I’m going to go up on the roof to try to remove rust (the antenna installers in my area come to change everything without even trying to see!!)
      Can I put a "spray of gray paint"

        Hi, I went up on the roof. I covered the satellite dish and I noticed that the cable on the roof's trim is gone and the wire is exposed???
        This must be important for reception
