Good evening,
I need your help, I've been looking since this morning and now I'm desperate.
I'm not very skilled.

This concerns Microsoft Money that I've lost and I absolutely want to recover.
But how should I proceed?

I'm on Windows 10

Thank you very much for your advice.

on my PC and on external hard drive
      but it appears:
      Money Backup.mbf on both
      I uninstalled Money
      then reinstalled it via CCM,
now it says: Money is ready to run.
to complete the installation, click Finish.
      But I have nothing.
and yet it looks like what I had.

    Hello;

I suggest you follow the instructions below in order because often a simple, clean, and complete uninstallation resolves MsMoney issues, provided the backups are recoverable

    Uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft MsMoney

1-Make sure the latest backup is up to date and valid: If that's the case, you need to make a copy of that backup on a removable medium (USB stick-CD/RW or External HDD)

2-Uninstall MsMoney completely using Revo Uninstaller which can be downloaded at >> This link
Launch this tool, look for Microsoft MsMoney and uninstall it

3-Open the hidden files in Windows / If problems >> See or 10/ This link
then navigate to the path C:\User(UserName)\AppData\local\Microsoft >> Look for Money and delete it

4-Open the registry with the command Regedit (by clicking on the Windows icon at the bottom left and typing regedit and opening it (see at the top of the window))
Open the Hkey_Current_User key then look for Software >> Microsoft >> Money > To delete
Open the Hkey_Local_Machine key and perform the same operation (If Money is present but usually it isn't!)

    5-Restart the machine

6-Reinstall MsMoney version 2005 using the update patch (or reinstallation) available at >> This link
then proceed with the installation following the procedure from the link above

7-Relaunch MsMoney from the backup made in 1- and everything should go back to normal

For security reasons >> Always make a backup of MsMoney on a removable medium (External hard drive - USB stick or CD/RW)
You need to configure your backup according to the screenshots from the download link of the patch according to the backup destination (Example made for a backup on CD/RW)

If problems >> Return to the Forum
    See you for the results

      Hello,
I gave up because I tried to do what was written in your response, which I had already read in this forum and many other suggestions, but as I mentioned, I am not comfortable at all with manipulation on PC
So I will call an IT technician.

      A quick question:
What does Money mbf mean that I find both on my PC and on my external hard drive?

Thank you for responding to my request
      Have a good day

    Hello;

You shouldn't call a "repairman" who might charge you a significant amount for little things and there's no guarantee he can help you? >> If you have an issue, we're here to help without any problem.

Money.mbf is a backup file (.mbf being its extension) >> Have you tried launching MsMoney from this file >> That is to say, "pointing to it" and opening with >> MsMoney???

Feel free to come back anytime as there's no problem helping you out.
    See you soon!

I'm so happy you can't know,
I did what you wrote above and it WORKS
However, I wanted to copy/paste the homepage where I see my accounts to the external hard drive, but it won't paste.
What do I do: move with the mouse? Or another manipulation?

      Thank you, thank you

    Hello;

Thank you for the feedback, but I'm especially happy for you if everything is fine

On the other hand, I wanted to copy/paste the homepage where I see my accounts onto the external hard drive, but it won't paste.
What should I do: move it with the mouse? Or another manipulation?
    >> I don't quite understand what you want to do >> Please provide me with more details

Edit >> I think you want to create a shortcut to access your hard drive to go to Money ?? >> If that's the case, it’s not very useful because I suppose your hard drive doesn’t run constantly? Because you use it to save your backup >> Please confirm
I suggest you make a shortcut on your desktop to access MsMoney to see your accounts because I suppose you don't back up every time you check? >> If that's the case, just go to your programs >> Microsoft Money 2005 >> Right-click on the Microsoft Money file >> Send to (Desktop create a shortcut) and you will have the MsMoney icon on your desktop

    Take care

    Best regards

Exactly the external hard drive is not connected permanently. Just to save my latest operations on Money.
So, does this mean that when I do the accounts, I need to plug in this external drive?

    Hello;

If your external hard drive serves, among other things, to store your MsMoney backups, there’s not much point in leaving it running all the time except to heat it up... >> You connect it when you do your backup
Have you managed to create your shortcut on your desktop to access MsMoney
    See you later

      Hello,
I did my accounts on Money: everything went well.
The shortcut on the desktop where I saved today's work is fine.
I copied it to an external drive: very good.
So I can say that everything is going well - I hope it lasts because in a month I will need it.
When I think that a right-click on the mouse gave me satisfaction.
Thanks again because I was about to give up.
      Have a good day.

Good evening, after formatting my hard drive, I reinstalled Microsoft Money 2015 successfully,
but I was unable to restore with my backup (USB key): sample backup 7, this file is not found.
To access my accounts, I have to click on sample backup 7, and I can view all my accounts.
However, when I want to restart Money, it only opens with the key (e:).
I've been struggling with this for 2 days and I can't find a solution, so any ideas would be welcome.
Good night and thank you in advance.
    Johanna
