Hello everyone,
I am trying to install my old EPL-5700 printer on my laptop which runs on Windows 7 Home Premium edition.
Since my laptop doesn't have a port for the printer, I bought a USB/Serial adapter (Connectland/Prolific).
I installed it and it seems to be recognized as it shows up as COM3 in the device manager under "Ports (LTP and COM)".

I think I found the appropriate drivers through Windows Update. The printer seems to be installed and recognized correctly.
But when I try to print, the jobs don't reach the printer and I get an error message.
I think there might be a port issue; I've tried changing the ports associated with the printer, but nothing works.
I may have stumbled in the steps of installing the printer (networked or not, shared or not...)

Thank you for your help.
Thierry

Hello.

The printer is certainly too old.

Possibly the manual if it can help you.

The serial mode is not the easiest to configure because the speed and control settings must match what the printer expects... the parallel mode is easier to use...

USB converters -> they must exist, but you can also use a "printer server" box that does everything! (provided that it has a parallel output, of course)... With this kind of server and as long as you have the right model, your printer will be accessible via the LAN network and WiFi.

For the driver, you can use the one for the HP -4L... it has become "almost" universal for older laser printers... You may lose some functions specific to the printer, but it will allow you to continue printing in 98% of cases.
