Hello,
I bought an Epson XP-342 printer a few days ago. While installing firmware, there was a power outage and when I turned my printer back on a few hours later, I was greeted with the "Epson Printer Recovery Mode." I've tried everything! Uninstalling everything, using REVO to uninstall, I'm really desperate! I've also looked at other threads on the same topic but nothing worked.

If anyone has another solution, it would be really nice, thank you very much. :)

Good evening,

We don't know your operating system..??

We don't know if the photocopies work (only with the printer buttons)..??

-- We don't know what firmware and why...?? you wanted to modify it..?? firmware in the printer.

-- You've tried everything, but we don't know what..??

-- What isn't working..??

I am using Windows 10. I didn't want to change anything, I just did an update and that's when I had my failure.. Hence the "recovery mode".
I tried uninstalling Epson for example. But nothing.. My printer still displays "Recovery Mode", I also tried connecting my printer to my PC via a cable but nothing changes.
Moreover, the printer no longer prints due to the Recovery Mode..

Why update a system that works?? It's not without risks.

Uninstalling your printer from the computer is pointless; an Epson firmware update is not done on the PC... but rather on the electronic board within the Epson printer...
The firmware transmission was via Wifi... the wifi being an additional risk of connection loss, the power cut only confirmed this..

In my opinion, the firmware update or recovery is done from a file that is on a USB stick or an SD card that you insert into the printer's slot... nothing is done from the PC since the connection doesn't work (the firmware is dead)

This file may be on the CD that comes with your printer... check the contents of this CD in your explorer.

You can try to reinstall your printer on the PC, using the CD, without wifi or USB cable; only plug in the USB cable when prompted.

Check this site https://www.epson.fr/support?productID=20004&language=fr#faq_results&sid=v359dan4u242pbkjqvgmimpcmf
You will find all the explanations for updating your printer's firmware there...

I believe you will also need the "Epson Updater" ftp://download.epson-europe.com/pub/download/6281/epson628188eu.exe which is necessary for this operation

I hope this will resolve your issue... come back and let me know how it goes.

Hello, it was an update that needed to be done. Epson has updates, like Windows (or software..) I still want to thank you for your attempt to help but nothing is working yet. I have contacted Epson as well, I will have to change my printer.

Are they going to offer you another one...? due to a failed update because of a power outage..?
