Asus R540L PC only starts in BIOS Solved

Question

Hello,  At the beginning of 2017, I bought an Asus R540L laptop for the price of €549, purchased from an electronics/appliances store in Vichy. It was intended to replace my old laptop, bought online in 2011, whose battery was nearly worn out, as well as my tablet (which still works, but is a bit slow). Until these last few days, everything was fine, but since November 22, I suddenly experienced a BSOD with messages like: UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION, another day I had MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, or CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED; despite the automatic reboot following these blue screens, my PC boots into the BIOS.  Last night, I managed to start normally, but after a few minutes, the PC froze, then BSOD, then attempts to restart, everything was fine again, and then nothing, BIOS. Today, I attempted to start, without success: still stuck on the BIOS.  On my hard drive, there are a lot of courses I had to save (unfortunately partially) either on a Drive or on a USB key, and I no longer have access to the rest. I would really like to recover my data… I fear that the hard drive is no longer recognized…  Is there a solution for this? Right now I am feeling down not being able to use my PC, which is turned on every day.  Configuration of the affected PC: - Windows 10 Home - Intel Core I3-5005U processor clocked at 2.00 GHz - several pre-installed software including Microsoft Office 2016 (active Office 365 Family subscription) - LibreOffice 5.3.6.1 - some GIS software - 1 TB HDD - 4 GB memory

Still no response? I just contacted a computer repair service by phone.  Summary of the facts: - PC startup - the BIOS displays but the problem lies in the BOOT tab, where I can no longer find the hard drive… is it damaged? maybe. - exiting the BIOS via F10+Enter (Yes) changes nothing

Good evening...  If your hard drive isn't showing up in the BIOS, there's no chance of booting from it! Check if it's simply not seated properly in its slot: take it out and put it back in gently but firmly nonetheless...  -- "Who wants to climb a mountain starts from the bottom!" In images, it will be more illustrative:   Other than two screws (the problem is that this will void the warranty that's still valid for 13 months), I don't see anything that could allow access to the HDD.  In the BIOS:  Main menu:   BOOT menu: Boot Option Priorities is desperately empty  Isn't it more a problem of the hard drive not being detected?

Good evening, the technician did everything he could to try to fix the hard drive. Without opening the inside of the laptop, which would have voided the ongoing warranty.  So it is no longer a question of BIOS (thus we forget about SATA in Advanced) but rather a problem with the hard drive and Windows startup. When I start it, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't; after entering the password to open my session, after the welcome message, the PC freezes with a BSOD and the message CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. Upon rebooting, I again encounter BSODs with BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO.  All I have left is hope: that the customer service of the electronics/home appliance store can properly handle my problem. Response time?  There, I hurried to save my data from another PC (which is working perfectly): my documents and photos from 2004 to 2016 (those from 2017 are saved on the microSD card of my phone). However, I have two weeks of my courses + videos from 2017 that may be lost…

Good evening, I am writing this message from my PC which has just been repaired. The problem was simply with the hard drive's controller board, which has been replaced. Fortunately, the data was not affected.  Altogether, it could have cost me €64.76 excluding taxes, but since the device is still under warranty (and thankfully I took out insurance), this operation cost me nothing.  Perhaps this problematic controller board was preventing the PC from starting up correctly, as I was getting stuck at a blue screen before arriving at the desktop.  This issue can be classified as resolved.
