Computer bug with HDMI

Hello,

I’m reaching out because I can’t find a topic or people who have already encountered a bug similar to mine.

My problem is that when I connect my laptop (Dell running Windows 10) to my TV via HDMI, it crashes. The desktop icons disappear and my web pages refresh every 10 seconds or as soon as I type something, whatever it is.

Regarding the desktop icons, more details:
The icons are indeed missing on my desktop, but they reappear as long as I press the mouse button and disappear again once I release it. Similarly, when I right-click, while the small options window is displayed, the icons appear, but disappear again as soon as I click somewhere...

This bug isn’t systematic, but occurs more often than not...

If you think this post’s section isn’t appropriate, feel free to move it (I’m new to this forum and I don’t master it yet).

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Best regards,

Sizlacks.

    Hello,

These are the symptoms of lag; your PC slows down when you connect it to your TV. Typically I had this issue when trying to connect my PC to my 4K TV. Obviously, it doesn’t like it because the graphics card isn’t designed to support this type of resolution! It’s therefore possible that there’s too large a technological gap between your PC and your TV.

      Hello,

thanks for this response. Do you know if there is a simple solution? Other than changing my graphics card.. Update? Buying a particular HDMI cable?

No, I don’t think there are any solutions, since the problem indeed comes from the fact that the graphics card isn’t suitable.
