The headphone jack only works on one side

I’m stepping in because I’m trying to solve a similar problem. However, I’m not convinced that the solution lies in revising, let alone changing, the equipment.

In fact, having noticed issues such as you describe on several PCs in my possession, I can state that there is such dispersion in the sizing of the contacts on male headphone jacks (verifiable) and likely on the female jacks of the PCs that the customer service handling your intervention would not be able to provide a lasting solution, knowing that plugging/unplugging ultimately leads to deformation of the soft contacts, resulting in a sound cut-off, either on the headphones or, more severely, on the PC speakers.

Furthermore, this adjustment implies that they would need the specific headphones being used, needing to redo it in case of a headphone change. I doubt they would agree to make this customization. They will likely only check that it works with one of their test headphones.

I insist that this, in my opinion, stems from the margin present in the measurements of the sections on the connectors, both male and female.

I don't have a solution to propose, but for my part, I’m considering making small male/female extensions, based on a sampling of cords or connectors to assemble, ensuring that I check beforehand that they differ by the length of the contact sections on the male ends (3.5 mm headphone jacks). I will test them and specialize them for each PC and each headphone with which they would be plugged.
