Hidden SSID? freebox

 Sandor -
hello,

I have a Freebox (first green arrow at the top) and I have a few questions:

How is it possible that a network with a hidden SSID has almost the same MAC address as my Freebox? Where did this network come from?
Here is the MAC address of my Freebox:
and that of the network with the hidden SSID:
I specify that the characters I have masked are the same for both captures.

So can someone explain where this WiFi network came from?
Is it possible for the Freebox to generate two access points simultaneously? (normally yes)
Is it possible that it interrupts my main network (with the unmasked SSID)?
because on InSSIDer they are on the same channels

Thank you very much for your forthcoming help.

Good evening
The Freeboxes are dual, one part that is private to you and one part that you can make free.
The free part only slightly affects your private part.
As someone who moves around a lot, I am grateful to all the Freenauts who allow me to connect to their box.
Best regards

Thank you for this response, but you’re not answering my question.

I know there are open Wi-Fi networks for people around, and it doesn’t bother me, but I just want to know where the hidden Wi-Fi network is coming from...

(my personal Wi-Fi network is highlighted in green)

Good evening
if I’m not mistaken, the images are taken from your television, correct me if I'm wrong.
Is your box a V5 or a V6?
Do you have another Free box nearby?
Do you have a plug connected to your TV?
I think you understand now; I could be mistaken, so please clarify your question if that's the case, as no one is a prophet in their own domain.
Best regards

I have exactly the same problem with a Freebox Crystal, installed alone without the TV box.
With an Android application, I can see my WiFi, which is not hidden, but I also see another one that comes from my Freebox, because it shares the same BSSID key as my normal WiFi, with only one character difference, and this secondary WiFi is hidden (SSSID masked). And no, this strange hidden WiFi has nothing to do with the public hotspot function, because this network continues to coexist even when freewifi and freewifi_secure are activated (there are then 4 WiFi networks coming from my Freebox).
Another oddity, the Freebox Crystal only allows WPA PSK encryption (WPA2 not available), and yet, this strange invisible WiFi is encrypted in WPA2... And it's also not a 5 GHz WiFi, it operates on the same frequency as my normal WiFi (2.4 GHz) and on the same channel, which is not great for interference.
Would anyone among you have an idea of what this mysterious hidden WiFi from Freebox Crystal is?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Hi,
maybe try another network scanning tool, yours might be acting up.

Thank you for trying to provide me with a solution, but after testing with another app (Wifi Analyzer), there still appears to be a hidden wifi coming from my freebox, with the same characteristics (BSSID close to my usual wifi, 2.4 GHz, WPA2 even though the freebox does not allow me to use this security level on my own wifi).
I really wonder what it could be, and I am still looking for the bottom of the story.
So, if anyone among you has a freebox crystal, it would be nice to do a little test on your side with an app like wifi analyzer, just to see if this phantom wifi is present for everyone or just for me.

Thanks in advance.
