Hello,
There are 2 PCs at home; when I check the available networks on one of the PCs, it shows:
FreeboxSSID2 and on the other FreeboxSSID1(SSID2). I haven't modified the network name at all. In the free interface, if I change SSID2 to SSID1, I get the message "invalid."
Does anyone have any idea?
Thank you.
,
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 23.0.1271.95

Hi,
in the freebox (or free) interface, do you have ssid1 or ssid2?

and ... There you go! -
Good evening,
in the Freebox interface (my Free account) I have a SSID2 but right now, in the "manage wireless networks" window, I see on both PCs the networks freeboxSSID1 and freeboxSSID2. However, in the status bar at the bottom of the screen, when I click on the internet connection icon on one of the PCs, the freeboxSSID1 network appears and on the other, the freeboxSSID2 network, which is why I'm confused.
best regards -
I deleted from pc1 the networks ssid1 and ssid2
Then, in the "network and sharing center" window, both networks appear.
I disconnected the ethernet cable and there ssid1 disappeared and pc1 connected to ssid2.
I reconnected the ethernet cable and ssid1 reappeared.
For your information: in the "network and sharing center" window
it says: ssid1 and "local area connection"
ssid2 and "wireless network connection"
I want to specify that ssid1 is the network name indicated on the freebox server box and I have never modified this name. However, if I try to enter it again, I get the message "invalid ssid".-
Hi; via RJ45, you have the default box name (WiFi SSID) and via WiFi, the one you set.
Default model Freebox-XXXXXX (XXXXXX = end of MAC address).
Just don't confuse it with "FreeWifi" and "FreeWifi_secure".
On Windows 7, if you are connected via WiFi and RJ45 to the same box, either both names are separated, or a single name is displayed but the dual connection is in one of the two names; the priority one (to be tested). By restarting the PC or doing another action, the two names are generally separated. -

yes, well, images like that don't help us much :-(
the SSID is of no use and means nothing at all on an ethernet connection, you can give this connection whatever name you want.
Furthermore,
you shouldn't connect both ethernet and wifi from a router to a PC simultaneously, even though Windows can roughly manage the priority, it can only bring you troubles, no advantages.

Good evening,
thank you for your explanations. However, I didn't understand the last one from "Rapide," I'm sorry.
In response to "brupala": connecting both Ethernet and Wi-Fi at the same time on a PC, I must admit that it didn't occur to me. I tested it, and the Wi-Fi disconnects within 10 seconds.
I definitely have a lack of IT knowledge, but to summarize:
For my Ethernet network, I have freeboxssid1, and for the Wi-Fi, I have freeboxssid2.
