Hello,

since today, when I click on a Word link, I get this message:
"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

I am using Word 2007, the Firefox browser, and Thunderbird email.

I have already seen solutions online, but they do not work in my case.

Thank you to those who will look into my issue.

Configuration: Windows 8 / Firefox 55.0

    thank you gbinforme

    I found this: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-2067113-operation-annulee-restriction-vigueur-lien

    a link to http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

I downloaded HTM/HTML Associations and it works!

now any document with a URL or link is clickable.

      Hello CatherineS2,

So you did have an issue with associations in the register.

Thank you for the feedback that can help other victims of this flawed update.

Awesome! It's an old trick but it worked for my setup: Outlook 2007 + Windows 10 + Firefox.

Hello and thank you, but it's still not working.

When I go to the control panel, default programs, set my default programs, when I choose Windows or non-Windows, it always stays on custom.

I also notice that the links are no longer clickable in Word. I have the same response from Windows: "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

So it's related to IE and Outlook, which I never use.

I can no longer open my emails that I saved on my hard drive. When I click on them, they are empty.

    Hello catherineS2,

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Office. No result.
It's completely normal because your problem does not come from Office or Word but from an incorrect setting in the registry.

If you have made the change indicated by jmarion3, there must be another incorrect setting.
If you have recently installed updates, you can try uninstalling them. For that, you need to check your system history.
