This help seems to correspond to my problem, but the thing is that this article is outdated (they're talking about Windows XP here ^^). So maybe the method is not the same for Windows 10. First of all, thank you for your responses. To answer your question eddydu44: no, I’m not sure it comes from the RAM; I have no idea where it could be coming from. I think it’s Windows that shows me that, what other program could display such a message?
I will try to encounter the message again to take a screenshot while leaving my PC on overnight. The thing is, sometimes the screen is all gray in the morning, so I can't see the message and the only way to exit the gray screen is to turn off the PC abruptly.

Azthorgis, for you, it could be from the graphics card. So, since I have a "second graphics card": the graphics circuit of the processor. I might try to activate this circuit instead of the card and see if the problem persists.

But since my PSU is quite limited (300 watts), do you think the graphics circuit of the processor will consume more than my graphics card? (my CPU is an Intel Core i5 4440, the integrated graphics processor is the Intel HD Graphics 4600).

I am dual booting Windows 10/Ubuntu with 400GB for Windows and 600GB for Ubuntu. The Ubuntu partition is almost empty and on the C drive, there are 247GB free out of 399GB.

I'm looking for a simple way for you to see the old RAM-related error messages in the logs.

I went to the Event Viewer and looked at the System event logs, and I found this error that repeats a very, very large number of times during downtime (during the night, you know):
"The reset of the Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b|g|n WiFi Adapter network interface has started. During the hardware reset, network connectivity will be temporarily interrupted.
Reason: The network driver detected that its hardware has stopped responding to commands.
This network interface has been reset 657 times since its last initialization."

Do you think this is related to my problem? (I specify that I never use the Event Viewer)

try to leave it on overnight anyway and take a screenshot of the error message in the morning, then check the task manager to see what is using RAM

Indeed, it's incomprehensible. There's nothing to worry about, no process is consuming a lot of RAM...
Maybe if you set the RAM limit in msconfig it will change, but it's really not certain....
You just need to do Win+R --> msconfig --> Startup tab --> Advanced options -->
Maximum memory: 12000 (or something like that xD)

I have the same thing as you on my computer,
they say to set it (for 64bit PC):
SharedSection=1024,20480,1024

But thinking about it, I feel like it won't change anything... It will probably still hit the limit but after more time, that's all!

I've seen plenty of issues because of this automatic management (it dates back to Windows XP and it's still not resolved)
AND I thought you really don't need this SWAP with your 12 GB of RAM!!!

I had already tried to limit the SWAP myself, but that didn't solve the problem. I'm going to try to delete it and I'll let you know. But the thing is, apparently the issue comes from LogonUI.exe and I don't really see why deleting the SWAP would make it consume less space. ;p

Apparently, HP SimplePass might be the cause of the problem. I'm uninstalling it and I'll see if it works, but I'm pretty confident about it!! :p

I’m not surprised that I don’t know this problem xD the first thing I do with every computer that comes into my hands is to delete those branded software. Well, let me know if it works anyway ;)
