Hello;

I have 2 identical machines W10-64 Bits + Microsoft Office Pro 2016 on both (with licenses). On one there are no issues, but on the second one I can't open hyperlinks because the following message appears:
The policies of your organization do not allow us to perform this action. Please contact technical support ....... (and this has been happening since this morning)
For your information, I have browsed the web and tried the proposed solutions >> Without success
I performed a system image restore >> Without success
I uninstalled and then reinstalled the Office suite properly >> Without success

If a kind soul knows the miracle solution, I thank them in advance

Best regards

Hello everyone:

Just to let you know in case someone encounters the same issue
1- Microsoft Office has nothing to do with the fact that hyperlinks do not open ...
2- The "culprit" is Firefox which goes and modifies the HTML value located in the registry
3- To fix it, you need to open the registry and do as follows
3/1 >> Regedit
3/2 >> Key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
3/3 >> HTML
3/4 >> Change the default value by replacing FirefoxHTML with HTMLFILE
3/5 >> Close the registry, restart Excel and everything is fine

(Thank you Tutoriaux Excalibur)

Best regards

Hello jmarion3,

The "culprit" is Firefox
As I looked into your problem, I found what you found, but I was not satisfied at all because for me, with "FirefoxHTML," it works very well on 3 Windows 10 systems with this configuration.
Perhaps your modification resolved your issue, but the cause must be a bit more complicated. Maybe in the general or specific definition of HTMLFILE, which is present abundantly in the registry, or in the FirefoxHTML entry that might not be correct (I have a DWORD set to 2)?
I will continue to look into this problem, which surely has a more precise explanation.
Have a nice Sunday now that the links are working.

Hello gbinforme;

I somewhat agree with you because on one of my machines, the one that wasn't working, I did modify the registry by setting it to Htmlfile and it worked immediately (no more issues with hyperlinks). >> This morning I checked the other machine that I didn't have this problem with and the registry key was indeed FirefoxHtml, which I still modified to Htmlfile and it works anyway??
See screen image

A+ maybe
