Hello,
I am working on PowerPoint and I need to create a link that takes me to Excel.
I am able to follow the steps correctly, my link is valid, but the message "unable to open the specified file" always appears.
I need to create this PowerPoint for a presentation, so my files are on a USB drive: I think the problem comes from there, but I have no choice but to use a USB.
Is there a way for me to access my files on my USB (and from another computer) or will it not work as long as the files are on the USB drive?

Hello,
No, the two files do not need to be stored in the same place. That said, they are since they are both on your USB drive.
However, I can imagine that when you created your hyperlink, your documents were not together yet, or your PowerPoint file hadn't been saved. So you probably have a link with the drive letter of your USB, and when switching machines, the letter is likely different because it’s an absolute link.
Try the following: right-click => “Edit Link” and there you will find, for example, F:\myfile.xlsx. Delete the F:\. Your link will become relative and the issue should be fixed.
