External CD drive for iMac

Question

Hello, I need to buy an external CD/DVD drive for my iMac. OSX El Capitan 10.11.6.  I previously had a Super Drive that never worked.  Do you have any advice for me? Thank you.  Best regards.

Hello,  There's no need to spend a lot on an external drive, but it all depends on what you intend to use it for. You go to this page, you download the driver, you install it, and you see what happens.  Although, according to what I found, it is not necessary to install a driver, as I mentioned earlier.  From the Apple menu/About This Mac/System Information/USB, do you see it, and what information is given about it? I went to the page you indicated but I didn't see how to download the driver.  Apple Menu/About This Mac: I get to a "panel" that says: OSX El Capitan Version 10.11.6 iMac (21.5 inches, late 2015) after the info on the processor, memory, graphics Serial number DGKS601QGF1L  I don't have system information/USB...  (My Mac is going out the window!!!)

And, a little "hello" no? tss tss tss...  When you are in the "Hardware" menu, you select "USB" and you will see the details of the connected hardware, you should see your drive, if yes, select it and you will have the information regarding it, copy/paste that in your response.  To find the disk utility, you can follow this path, if you checked "Applications" in the Finder preferences, otherwise your Preferences folder is on your hard drive, in the Finder, click on the little house and you should see it in the list.    Double-click on "disk utility," it will open, in the window that opens, in the left column, select your HD and then click on "SOS," confirm, and let it do its thing.  -- When it’s urgent, it’s already too late (Talleyrand) When everything has failed, read the manual ;)
