Useful anecdote: The "download mode" is used to play on multiple consoles with a single game. If your child wants to play with friends but doesn't have the game, they will need to go through this menu and choose the type of game and so on. The name "download mode" comes from the fact that the console needs to download data to play with a friend who will have their own console and game.
