Qualcomm Atheros AR956X WiFi card not working

Hello!
My Asus F200M notebook running Windows 8.1 64-bit is regularly experiencing Wi-Fi connection issues. At those times, it doesn't identify any connections and the icon that appears is that of an Ethernet connection with a red cross.
Only by changing location does the identification of networks reappear. I'm starting to get frustrated with these random and unpredictable malfunctions, and Asus's online support only offers me basic ineffective troubleshooting (power reset, refresh, system restore). Every time the computer is in this situation, the Qualcomm Atheros AR956X Wi-Fi card ends up in the hidden devices of the device manager, and when I go to properties, it indicates that it's not connected to the computer. When I try to update the driver, Windows tells me that there is no better version available at this time. I really want to get out of this situation now (as I currently have no Wi-Fi connection) but also understand the problem to prevent it and avoid it happening again in the future. Hi

is your PC the one >> F200MA?

if so, download this driver to your desktop click here

it's a "zipped" driver, you need to "unzip" it with 7ZIP for example

the link if needed >> https://www.7-zip.org/

PS: take the 64 bits version for your PC

run it as administrator (right click)

once done, right-click on the driver and select 7ZIP >> extract to...

then double-click on the "unzipped" driver folder to open it, and run the SETUP as administrator (right click)

restart the PC and let me know how it goes

start the command prompt as an administrator (Admin)

type these commands one by one and click ENTER after each command

netsh winsock reset
netsh winhttp reset proxy
netsh winhttp reset tracing
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ipv4 reset catalog
netsh int ipv6 reset catalog

when it's done, restart the PC and let me know what happens

No. Simply nothing has changed after startup. I got an "access denied" after the command including ipv6 but at the same time it announced a reset after reboot. All the other commands produced positive responses.

right-click on the connection icon in the taskbar, and choose "open network and sharing center"

in the window that opens, click on "change adapter settings" (in the left column)

in the window that opens, right-click on your wifi connection and choose "properties"

when the network is not detected, are you "near or far from the box"?

there's nothing interfering between the box and your pc (microwaves, etc...)

with Ethernet, do you have the same issue?

The problem is that I don't have a Wi-Fi connection showing up when I go to network connections. Only a Bluetooth connection and an Ethernet connection.
As if I didn't have a Wi-Fi card on this computer.

I am near the box but anyway it doesn't detect any connection, not even those that don't come from my box. I never connect via Ethernet.

Thank you, but that can't be the problem: I went to a friend's house today, I turned on my computer and it detected all the available networks again. When I got home, it continued to work. It's as if at times my Wi-Fi card - which is once again visible in the device manager and which Windows indicates is working fine in its properties - goes to sleep unpredictably. It's working again now, very well, but... until it malfunctions again. It's frustrating and so unbelievable. I don't know what to do...

in a "joking" manner, I would say to "exorcise" your PC (with a crucifix and garlic cloves)^^

more seriously, I don't see where the problem could come from (completely random connection and disconnection)

given what you explain, the PC loses connection at your place, then you go to a friend's house and you manage to connect to their network

you come back home and it works too, but the day/moment you lose the wifi connection at home, you have to go to someone else's place to reconnect to their wifi

then, you go back home, and your wifi connection is fine....

Yes, that's exactly it! :) I tend to think that the Wi-Fi card is faulty, but I have no idea what is causing its mood swings. It's very annoying.

"I reassure you," I have exactly the same problem. More seriously, because the Wi-Fi completely makes the touchpad function disappear, the cursor disappears. And fortunately, my Asus R540L (which is actually an X540L) has a touchscreen, otherwise it would be blocked. Without me being able to make any modifications. When the Wi-Fi appears, it's best to disable the network card in Device Manager. Otherwise, the computer might not restart. I've performed two factory restorations. It hasn't changed anything. It also seems that the BIOS hasn't been updated since September.  If you uninstall the driver, it will reinstall itself at some point, and the problem will come back. For now, it needs to be disabled while waiting to find a solution.  There is currently a hacking issue in Wi-Fi networks. It's possible that the problems are related.  Otherwise, I will continue to search. In the meantime, I will contact the ASUS repair center.
