Qualcomm Atheros Wi-Fi Network Card Driver Issue Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,I have an Acer Aspire 5720ZG laptop that was working fine under Windows Vista. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Atheros AR5007EG wifi network card that operates through a utility under Windows Vista: Acer Enet Manager. However, this software is usually not necessary for the proper functioning of a wifi network card under Windows 8.1. Since I started using Windows 8.1, the wifi behaves erratically: sometimes it works... and sometimes it doesn't, so I have to uninstall the card driver each time via the Windows Device Manager and re-enter the password for my wifi connection for it to work more or less well. I tried installing a driver provided by the card manufacturer, but when the driver installs, I get a BSOD that says: IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL.How can I install a valid driver that doesn't crash my PC?Thank you in advance for your responses!Configuration: Windows / Chrome 36.0.1985.125

Hello,

Go to the Control Panel
Programs and Features
Uninstall Qualcomm Atheros AR5007EG, if present.

Go to Device Manager
Network Adapters
Right-click on Qualcomm Atheros AR5007EG
Uninstall it
Restart the PC.

Go back to Device Manager
If there's a question mark, provide the hardware ID number.

Download and install --> 7Zip  Download this driver --> Atheros and put it in your documents.  Right-click on --> Qualcomm....zip Choose --> 7Zip Choose --> extract to Qualcomm....  Go to the device manager Right-click on the device in question Update driver Search for a driver on my computer Browse Go to the unzipped driver folder --> Qualcomm.... Select the folder --> win8.1 Next, etc... Restart   -- Humans are at their best when things are at their worst.

I'm getting another BSOD: IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL ... Otherwise, the problem isn't the activation of the card but rather the connection to a network that's buggy ..

Go to Windows Update and perform all updates.
Also check the optional ones and the hardware.
You may be offered a driver for the wireless.

I did what you told me but the same problem persists: the card activates but it struggles to connect and eventually disconnects...
Otherwise, Windows Update isn't offering me any updates for the Wi-Fi card...

Maybe check if the wireless configuration service is running and set to automatic in startup type?  If everything is correct, reset the modem.  Humans are at their best when things are at their worst.

The Wi-Fi seems to be working again, I disabled MAC filtering on my Livebox and for now I have no more problems...
