Hello,

I have a problem with highlighting. at some point, I don’t want the text to be highlighted, I click on no color, it doesn’t do anything.

How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Laura

    Hello Laura,

The highlighting tool (text highlighting) is used in 2 ways:

    a) You select the text you want to modify the formatting of, then you choose a highlighting color (to apply it) or you choose "No color" (to remove any existing color); the effect is immediate.

    b) Without selecting any text, click on the highlighting icon, then when you move your mouse, it is shaped like a vertical line on a white space (for example: the top of the page) and becomes a small pencil when you hover over text; at that moment you should click-drag over your text to apply highlighting or remove it (depending on whether you had clicked a color or "No color"); remember to click again on the highlighting icon to stop this operation.

If it doesn’t work as described above, try repairing your Microsoft Office software.

    Best regards

the two techniques do nothing. i’m not sure that a Microsoft Office repair will help in my case.

What you called highlighting is the same as fluorescent color from Stabylo markers, isn’t it? Unless you’re talking about strikethrough text or something else? My answer was for the first case: the fluorescent color => it’s in the Home tab, Font group, the second-to-last icon (bottom) with "ab". If that’s what you’re referring to, I don’t have any other idea.

What’s weird is that for the text I don’t want highlighted, I can’t remove the highlighting, and for another text within the same document it works. Is it because I did this on another computer with OpenOffice, I don’t know.

Here, you’re on the Word forum; if you’re using Word and have opened a document
Open Office, saving it in Word format might perhaps solve your problem?

And what if you removed this highlighted word? Then you type it again ...

Upload your Word document (without confidential data) to the site
mon-partage.fr; copy/paste the download link into
      your next post.

Indicate: the page number where you have the problem, which paragraph,
what is the highlighted text that needs the text highlight removed.

I don’t feel like it because it’s a private document.

I had noted: "(no confidential data)", so since it is a private document, it is completely normal that you don't want to upload it to a sharing site or a forum (which are public). However, without a file, I can't help you further, sorry! I hope another participant will find a way to help you without having your file.

Yes: Delete the file and start over!
(the solution from post #8 wasn’t enough...)
