Hello everyone!
I formatted the hard drive of a laptop running W10 to install W7 by putting the hard drive into another tower for formatting. I forgot to disable "secure boot" and switch to "legacy" mode for the hard drive in the BIOS of the laptop (a Lenovo Z50-70). However, I don't know how to access the BIOS again, as I have access to Windows 10 and the "F1" key on startup is useless (due to the previous installation of W10).
How can I access the BIOS for secure boot and legacy mode?
Thanks!

Hi
There’s no need to:
- format the disk before installing, everything needed is in the Windows installer
- have an OS to access the BIOS (otherwise how would one install the first one??)
All PCs have a key to access the BIOS (DEL, Delete, F2, Escape, etc. ..)
Check the documentation of the PC or the motherboard

- An OS is required because when using a PC with Windows 8/10, the keys to access the BIOS at startup are disabled (you have to go to Windows advanced startup options to access the BIOS). So all the keys at startup are useless here... I can only boot from a CD (but I don't have a bootable UEFI CD, and I don't even know if that exists...).
You can very well convert the disk with diskpart by pressing Shift+F10 with the Windows installer, and it is not a formatting that converts the disk from GPT to MBR.
As for the BIOS... nothing to add... no OS is needed to access it.
If your disk is dead and you put in a new disk, how would you apply your reasoning?

I had a Lenovo in my hands, and there was a tiny push button accessible with a point of a pen to access the BIOS.
Then I suppose there is a way to access the BIOS, I'm looking for it.
I'm on the hunt for the little button you mentioned.
In general, F2 is indicated to access the BIOS on Lenovo if there is no button.
F1 to F12, Delete do nothing at startup.
