Retrieve a scanned document to send by email

My scanned documents have been disappearing since I started using Windows 10. What should I do? Thank you.

    Good evening,
    Where are they stored?
    Maybe in a temporary file that deletes automatically.
    Which software are you using to scan?
    Have you named these files?
    It’s better to create a folder in "My Documents" and save the scanned files there for easy retrieval.
    If you might need them next time, it would be good to save them on 2 media: hard drive and USB stick.

      Thank you for this reply... I scanned my identity card to register on the electoral list... so I need to send it by email... but I can't find it in my documents.
