Mail merge issue

Hello,
In a database of "members", I created a "email address" field in which I entered all the email addresses of my members. After creating a template letter, I inserted my "email address" field so that each member would receive a personalized letter.

At the end of my mail merge, in the "finish and merge" tab, I select "send email messages", and in the "merge to email" window, I choose the options:
- "email address",
- "subject of the message",
- format: "plain text"

I send to "all".

However, my members do not receive it.

Can you explain to me why, and how I can possibly fix this?

How can I obtain proof of sending and/or receipt?

I have been struggling with this problem for two days and would appreciate any information anyone can provide.

Thank you for your help.

Good evening, I suggest you try sending to an incorrect email address to check if Word is indeed attempting to send the email.

    Thank you yg_be,
Indeed, my mail should not be sent, as I have no error message with a false address.
However, I am on Windows XP. Could that have an impact?
Thank you for your interest in a novice (even though I'm in my seventies!).

I suggest you try something simpler first: just ask Word to send a simple email with the document. This will allow you to check if Word can send an email, without the complexity of mail merge.

Thank you for your reply, but I managed (don't ask me how!) to send a test message. I think I selected Outlook as my email service and set it up correctly. But it works!!!
Thank you for your help. See you later if needed.
