Antenna amplifier

Question

Hello
In order to avoid bad advice from salespeople, I would like an informed opinion on the merits of installing an antenna or signal amplifier on the coaxial cable coming from the antenna. This is to direct the signal from the antenna to several points in the house.
Is it wise to install an amplifier? What type of amplifier should be used since the signal is digital?
Any explanation and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello This is in order to direct the signal from the antenna to several points in the house. In this case, you don’t need an amplifier or at least not just that.. You need a box that extends the antenna socket signal. -> basically, you add a main box on the antenna (transmitter box), then we have a receiver box that we place on another TV set. It’s as if we had physically wired the antenna connection to 2 TVs except there is no cable :D Metronic has this kind of equipment: the 475270 used to offer it but it's a bit dated, there should be a more recent digital version not sure it will work, and I think it requires watching the same channel on all TVs I’m not a specialist enough, wait for other responses.

It all depends on the strength (and quality) of the initial signal received at the "end" of the antenna... (set by a professional antenna installer)

Indeed, near a transmitter, one can receive a very strong signal (almost at the maximum of the standard), hence the possibility of installing a distribution of two to four or more TV sockets.

If the signal received is in the lower average of the TNT reception, the problem will be more complex, depending on the number of sockets desired, and it will become necessary (if the incoming signal is "clean") to install a mast pre-amplifier with an adequate power supply, which usually has two outputs, allowing supply in good (or average) conditions to the powered sockets.

Always depending on the initial reception, if the signal is "bad," an amplifier or pre-amplifier will only amplify the poor reception...

Regarding digital reception, know that the antenna and the pre-amplifier don't care about digital HD (commercial arguments); they are designed to receive the frequency for which they are intended, transporting these signals to your home, and it is your installation (TV or otherwise) that uses these HD signals or not.

Hello, sorry for the delay. Actually, I would like to serve 3 points, in other words, three outlets, two of which are 10m away from the first one. On the first outlet, I have a good reception, directly without using any amplifier. Therefore, I would like to power the other two outlets from this one. I did a test and on one of the two distant outlets, the reception quality is poor. However, on the first outlet, the reception remains good. This is why I was wondering what type of amplifier would be suitable to use given the signal. I thought that the signal transmitted by the HD radio network was digital, and that this fact would mean the amplifier would not influence the analog noise that accompanies the digital signal.

I will try a classic antenna amplifier or preamplifier placed at the foot of the mast.
