Catch channels without an outdoor antenna

Plop, as for the instruction manual, the only thing that was in the box with the indoor antenna was a piece of paper saying not to throw household waste in the environment >.<, then I have some old drawings on the box showing the different outputs of the antenna, so nothing impressive.

On the Metronic website, it’s the same, I think I’m going to email support if they have an email, otherwise I’m going to have to pay for a phone call. I still find it outrageous that there isn’t even a manual for a product with the CE logo.....

If your antenna isn’t picking anything up, it’s because the HF signal is too weak. The outdoor antenna jack only serves as an amplifier for an outdoor antenna. Try moving your antenna around the apartment and adjusting its orientation; you might find that the reception is better elsewhere. You have a gain knob on your antenna, turn it all the way up. Is your TV set to the correct channels now that you’ve changed your reception location? Even with a weak signal, you should see some image traces, or else you’re living in a concrete block.

It's difficult to go ask the seller for advice since I bought the antenna online.
I will try contacting Metronic's support on Monday.

Otherwise, I went to see a neighbor who receives TNT perfectly with a good signal and about twenty channels in total, according to what he told me.

So I think there must be a manipulation to do, whether at the antenna level or at the television level.

How long do you estimate the extension cord should be so that the loss is not too significant? Can we find shielded extension cords in large supermarkets like E.Leclerc, or do I have a better chance of finding them online?

Shielded extension cords are easily found in supermarkets.
For your indoor antenna, apparently there is a knob to adjust the amplification and as explained earlier by "eguyeres," you can move your antenna around in any room, even trying it in the bathroom or on a windowsill, but each channel will likely have a different ideal location.
You could also buy a TNT decoder (to connect between the TV and the antenna) which would serve as a second signal amplifier, with the added advantage of receiving more channels.
Personally, when I arrived at my current apartment, when I connected my TV to the collective antenna, I only received TF1 (not very clear) and I had to buy a TNT decoder (connected to the exterior antenna) to get the rest of the channels. And then it was great for the picture. For the sound (which didn't come through at all), I had to make something that acted as an antenna.

For you, it's a bit different since you don't have a wall socket for an outdoor antenna, so it's not certain that it would work for you.


If, while trying the makeshift solution with the fork proposed by "boomskud," you felt an improvement, it would be interesting to continue in that direction (and that way, it won't cost you too much).

Here's what I suggest (it's the antenna I made to get sound on TNT):
1) Buy a 5-meter shielded male/female extension cord.
2) Take 2 wire hangers and undo them to have 2 pieces of wire.
3) Insert one into the hole in the middle of the female side of the extension cord.
4) Still on the female side of the extension cord, on the outer edge, attach the second piece of wire with tape (or Patafix as well).
5) The other side of the extension cord (male connector) is to be connected to your indoor antenna instead of a roof antenna (or external antenna).



6) Now, move the improvised part around the room (and at height) while trying several channels, in order to find the spot where you get the best results.
7) Then twist the wire to adjust it as best as possible.
8) Figure out how to keep your makeshift antenna in place (like, if possible, attach it to a piece of furniture or directly to the wall).


Well, it's sure that it's not very aesthetic, but hey, that's the D system!

What you need is an extension cord with a round end with a hole in the middle (female socket) on one side and a round end with a pin in the middle (male socket) on the other side. I hope you understand better what I mean.

You see, it's better that you don't say things that are technically beyond your understanding, because what you're saying is unfounded. You should read specialized forums (Satmag, Zone HD, Satelliweb, TVNT, etc.) as well as Wikipedia, which explain the principles of antenna technology. It's much more complex than what you're repeating and what you've read in advertisements without understanding and discerning.
