Hello / Good evening,
First of all, I apologize if the issue I am about to discuss has already been addressed. However, I have already scoured a few forum pages without finding many solutions to my problem.
I am writing this post from another computer at home, which has no connection issues unlike mine. For a few days now, mine has only displayed the infamous error message telling me that Google Chrome is not responding when I try to perform a search. When I launch another web browser (Internet Explorer, in this case), it can’t even load the "home" page. Yet my computer is connected to my router and has internet access. All software that requires the internet, such as Spotify for example, tells me that there is no internet connection, which is very problematic. Moreover, a few days before this issue, I noticed that my "ms" count had significantly increased. Knowing that I tried to install Firefox on my computer via a USB link to see if the problem also existed on that browser, but my computer does not recognize it (the browser).
I am thus seriously troubled, I initially thought of a DDoS attack, but after checking the IPs, that is not the case. Since I am not an IT expert, I prefer to seek your help in the hope that one of you knows an answer. Additionally, I would like to avoid having to reset my entire OS or perform complicated manipulations that I am not familiar with.
NB: My computer, which is an Asus brand, is not even a year old, and has always shown high performance in all tasks it performs.
Thank you for reading this post, please feel free to respond if you have an answer, I would be very grateful!

Try several things:
1) - open a console and type "ping www.google.com" then
"ping 74.125.206.104"
2) - right-click on your wifi/ethernet icon -> "Open Network and Sharing Center" -> "Change adapter settings" -> right-click on your adapter -> properties -> in the dropdown menu select Internet Protocol Version 4 -> properties -> set everything to automatic
3) - check if your firewall is blocking you
4) - run a scan of your PC with antivirus, malware can block your internet connections
If all this doesn't work, we'll look elsewhere.
1) - open a console and type "ping www.google.com" then
"ping 74.125.206.104"
- if the second case works and the first does not, then it’s a DNS problem
- if both cases work, then you are indeed connected to the internet
- if it only works in the first case, then the IP is not correct (sorry in advance, try again with another)

- For the first step, for both "commands," I am being told there is a "general failure." What does that mean?
- For the second step, everything was already set to automatic.
- For the third step, I actually think my problem comes from there; when I try to disable my firewall, I can't click on it. I suspect that the firewall my computer uses is McAfee's firewall (at least that's what Windows says), however, this antivirus recently informed me that I have a trial version and that it is about to expire. As a result, my private, public, and guest networks are no longer connected except for the private networks. Is that normal?
Moreover, when I try to launch McAfee, only a completely white window appears, so I cannot access the menu. I can't uninstall this software, whether through the control panel or with CCleaner.
- For the fourth step, I previously had McAfee, which was sufficient for fighting viruses, but since the trial version recently expired, I hadn't taken the time to download another antivirus. I will therefore try to import an antivirus from a USB drive this evening.
