Good evening everyone,
As a beginner on Mac, I tried to install OpenOffice on my machine. The installation went very well and everything was working fine until I decided to resize my window to full screen. The top of my window appears blurry or black when I go full screen, see the images below. I don't experience this problem with any other application.
Does anyone have a solution please?
Have a good evening

Hello,
The latest version of OpenOffice is reported to be compatible up to OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).
I therefore suggest for OS X 10.11 (El Capitan), a complete removal of OpenOffice, and the use of LibreOffice instead:
https://fr.libreoffice.org/get-help/install-howto/os-x/
To uninstall an application on Mac, see this page:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/42013-desinstaller-des-logiciels-sur-mac#supprimer-une-application-sous-mac-os-x
Best regards.
Have a nice day :-) - Francis

Hello,
Sorry for forgetting the link.
Question: Has OpenOffice been placed in the "Applications" folder?
Suggestion:
Close OpenOffice
From the Finder:
- click on the Go menu
- press the Alt key: the "Library" submenu should appear.
- select "Library"
- open the folder "Application Support -> OpenOffice -> 4"
- rename the "user" folder to "user_old"
- download OpenOffice and reinstall it
Is the menu bar okay in normal mode? In full-screen mode?

Hello,
A clean uninstallation requires the removal of the user profile
Follow this procedure to properly Uninstall and Reinstall: [https://forum.openoffice.org/fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=52719&p=285780#p285780%5DMacOS https://forum.openoffice.org/fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=52719&p=285780#p285780

Good evening everyone,
thank you for your help and your responses.
I just tried the procedure given by Ritchi by renaming the folder to user_old and downloading and reinstalling OpenOffice, but unfortunately, it still doesn't work. As soon as I enlarge my window with the green button, I encounter the same problem.
Is it the same for LibreOffice as it is for OpenOffice? I read that it was necessary to install the entire Java environment or I can't remember too well.
Thank you for your help.

Hello Chloé
Suggestion: Create a new user account on your Mac and test OpenOffice in full screen from this new user account. Is it the same?

Hello Ritchi,
Yes, still the same problem even with a new user account.
However, by changing the screen resolution of my Mac monitor to 1280 x 800, when I launch OpenOffice for the first time it shows the black bar like in the image of my first post, but then when I minimize the window and maximize it again, there’s no more problem and the title bar appears normally.
But when I quit OpenOffice again and relaunch it, the black bar reappears, but I just need to minimize the window and maximize it again to no longer have the issue.
Do you know why this is happening?
Have a good day, thank you for your help.

A comment: this issue seems to be known and the fix has not yet been made:
Issue 125756 - GUI frame breaks down after exiting Full Screen mode
Try the solutions proposed in the issue description: to enter full screen mode and exit it, do this: "Menu 'View > Full Screen (or Shift + cmd + j) and return via ESC key, all is OK."

no because it was the first time I installed OpenOffice on my Mac.
Off-topic question: do you know the different things to do to preserve the battery life of the Mac? At what % should I recharge it? Should it be used on power or on battery when it is fully charged?

With all due respect, OpenOffice 4.1.3 is compatible from 10.7.5 to 10.12.x.
Uninstalling without deleting (purging) the profile is of no use, and installing LibreOffice without having done this step leads to encountering the same problems if the profile is corrupted because LibO uses the already existing profile to create its own (the same goes in the other direction).
It is important to check the md5 checksum after downloading.
In my deletion procedure, the OpenOffice profile will be removed. Moreover, it will also be done with the procedure proposed by Ritchi above.
Best regards.
