Hello,

how to keep my favorites on Mac. Every time I shut down the computer, my favorites disappear, what should I do to save them?
I go to bookmarks and add a bookmark. In the "glasses" icon, it is there, but below "add a page" a circle keeps spinning non-stop!
Thank you for your help

Configuration: Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3) / Safari 6.0.3

    Good evening,

the "Bookmark" has nothing to do with the folders. In "Folders" you put pages that you want to keep for more or less temporary purposes? A kind of placeholder.

For bookmarks, you have several possible locations.

In the Safari Presentation menu, remember to Show the bookmarks bar. Also show the toolbar this way, and better yet, go to Customize the toolbar...

    -In the bookmarks bar:
-simply drag the address of the site you are on into this bar. You "grab" this address from its icon in the address bar of Safari.
In this bookmarks bar you can also have folders.

    -In the Bookmarks menu.
there you click on the + sign in the Safari toolbar, and you designate a folder

-in folders after accessing the bookmark management page by clicking on the "bookmarks" icon from the Safari toolbar.

EDIT: when you are on the bookmark management page, you can create folders at your convenience, move bookmarks, etc...

    Good evening Francis

Thank you very much for your explanations. I tried it and it works as long as the computer is on.
Today, when I restarted the computer, I have nothing at all.
I don't understand what the problem is.
I think it's something simple, but what!!!!
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Have a good evening

Good evening, it is indeed surprising. It's normal when using the Mac as a guest, but not in a "normal" session.

The Safari bookmarks are stored here under OS X 10.8:
    Hard_Drive / Users / Username / Library / Safari / Bookmarks.plist

So you should try deleting the Bookmarks.plist file, or even the entire Safari folder. There may be a corruption of this file.

First, start by running a disk and permissions repair after booting the Mac from its recovery partition.
    See here how:
    https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/36405-entretenir-et-reparer-mac-os-x-10-7-os-x-10-8-os-x-10-9-os-x-10-10-lion-mountain-lion-mavericks-et-yosemite

If that doesn’t resolve the issue, from the Finder's Go menu, while holding down the alt key, go to your Library which is usually hidden, and navigate to:
    Library / Safari / Bookmarks.plist
there delete the Bookmarks.plist file, or even the Safari folder if it's still not OK.
