Astra 23 receiver with card

Hello,
I had an old satellite decoder with a (foreign) card that picked up Astra 23.5 and Astra 19 well, but with the switch to HD, it no longer works. Up to that point, I can still understand... :-)
So I bought a Sagemcom DS81 decoder, my heart filled with hope... but when I insert my card into it, the receiver finds nothing.... and it seems to be stuck on Astra 19 (my foreign channels moved to Astra 23 during the switch to HD). But even when I insert the TNTsat card provided with the decoder, it finds nothing. And I do not have access to advanced settings until the initial installation has succeeded....
I also want to point out that I live in an apartment, so I do not have access to the building's satellite dish...
So here are my questions.....
1- Is it the decoder box that is malfunctioning or is it me?
2- Can I put my card in any decoder or do I need a specific decoder from the country?
3- Would a "free to air" decoder solve my problem?


Thank you for any help you can provide me... this satellite stuff is driving me crazy!!

    Hello,
    The dish is therefore collective but does it receive both satellites 19.2° and 23.5°?
    1: the card must be inserted chip down and towards the bottom
    2: no, there is a specific decoder depending on the encryption system or a decoder with a common interface into which a specific module for the encrypted package and its subscription card is inserted.
    3: as its name indicates, a "free to air" only receives the channels in the clear

      Umm... so I suppose she receives both... knowing that it was working before?
      1- In the instruction manual, it was written "chip upwards"... so I didn't try downwards, I admit... but that's worth testing!
      2- Umm if I understood correctly, it can't work with this decoder... since it was sold with the TNTsat card... unless I have a specific module? What should I buy then?
      3- Ok, thank you. I thought it might be a universal version of the decoder, free in the sense of encryption...

    If your TV doesn't have an F socket for satellite, it means it doesn't have a satellite tuner.
    You should read this post again

    It serves, in France for example, to decode Canal without an external decoder.

    Ask the neighbors, the caretaker, the manager, etc...

    Yes, that's the only way to receive the TNT SAT bouquet because even if your TV has a satellite tuner, Canal does not sell a module + card and requires a Canal-certified decoder.
    Why did you buy a module???
    As already mentioned, the issue comes from the configuration of your Sagemcom decoder based on the distribution mode of the collective satellite dish.

      I bought the module because I thought that a TV with a CI interface was automatically equipped with a satellite tuner...
      I'm going to call the caretaker to find out which satellite the building's dish is pointed at... It seems that in 99% of cases, it's 19.2, not 23.5... I thought it was both, but now I have serious doubts...

      DVB-T and DVB-S2 tuners "CI" are not sufficient in most cases, "CI+" is essential for reading cam modules, and they must also be marketed for the desired package...!

      For example, the Canal group refuses it for the satellite package but offers it for the paid TNT (Terrestrial) package... so in the case of paid satellite TV, it is mandatory to go through a Canal-ready terminal (demo) model compatible with Orca 2017 (see list, selection aid, backward compatible with Tntsat)

      Collective satellite antennas are most often intended only for Hot-Bird 13°E and Astra 19°, sometimes for Eutelsat 5WA - Fransat ...

      The problem is that the SAGEMCOM absolutely must have ASTRA 19 in port A of the DiSEqC,... we can choose the satellite we want in port B, but NOT in port A, unfortunately. Most dual LNBs have Hotbird in port A and Astra in port B, so they are incompatible!! ;(( If you can physically swap your LNBs and arrange to put Astra 19 in port A, then you might have a chance of it working.

    If you receive both satellites, you need to know how the collective distribution works and how you configured your old decoder (DiSEqC switch?).
    Your Sagemcom decoder can only decrypt the TNT SAT bouquet with the provided card.

    I was talking about decoders with a common interface to be able to decode Viaccess, Mediaguard, Irdeto, etc., depending on the specific module.

      Okay, I'm going to look for a decoder with a common interface... it seems to be Viaccess...
      The thing is, I wasn't the one who set up the old one.. I should reconnect it to check the settings... and I have no idea what a DiSEqC switch is... (yes, I'm clueless on this one.. :-) )

      So, little by little, I discovered that my new TV has a CI+ interface, so if I understood correctly, no need for a decoder.. but can I put any module in it? I found the PCMCIA module that would be compatible with Canal Digitaal... will it work with the TV?

      It's not the switch to HD, but the transition from Mpeg 2 to Mpeg 4 that causes a black screen... This confusion in the general public forums is perpetuated by certain sellers who still haven't understood anything...

      If the television has a built-in DVB-S2 tuner and a CI+ port, it can accept certain CAM modules, but none exist for Canal (Canalsat / C+ or TNTsat) packages that only work through a Canal Ready labeled terminal compatible with 2017 (see list, terminals that are compatible with multisat Diseqc).

      A diseqc switch allows switching between two satellite dishes, for example 19.2° in A and 23.5° in B, or vice versa.
